What you do cannot be replaced by an algorithm.

Trust me.

My clients include writers, poets, photographers, translators, conservators, historians and psychotherapists, each one distinctly passionate about what they produce as human beings.

And in recent years, some have communicated that the AI revolution has seriously impacted their work, that they feel increasingly marginalised, even replaced.

This is wrong.

While Large Language Models are here to stay - and are undoubtedly useful - they cannot replace creativity, imagination, nor engagement, because these are inherently human.

Right now, it might appear that ChatGPT, OpenAi, Gemini, et al. have replaced human creativity, but the pendulum will swing the other way, and soon. Already, AI generated texts, images, sounds and analyses are ubiquitous, but they are also obvious in their hollowness and superficiality.

Anthony Burgess wrote that language was our greatest possession, that We have within us an apparently infinite capacity for generating new statements. That is the great human endowment. This endowment is based, however, on a very simple peculiarity of the human brain — its capacity to think in opposed structures.’

LLMs, being basically pattern recognition software, cannot do this.

You can. You think in opposing structures every time you paint, write, translate, theorise, analyse, and communicate.

After 18 years working in the London art market, I started Sitelines Studio specifically to help artists and creative professionals promote their work. Working across a variety of platforms, frameworks and content management systems I’ll actively collaborate with you to create websites and apps that uniquely illustrate you and your work. I also provide informed copywriting, research and book design.

I want to help you put your work out into a world that increasingly needs it.

My initial consultation is free and welcome, so please get in touch.

  • Andréa Gates

My clients:

“Once in a rare while, one has the good fortune to come into contact with a person who is an exemplar of their work. Andréa Gates is a true professional - highly knowledgeable, conscientious and most insightful; applying her talents fully to the service of a subject and working towards its final resolution.”

Saied Dai Artist

“Andréa was a pleasure to work with. She was able to help me realise an idea I had for how a website might look and was able to suggest and create a design that is functional and beautiful. Her appreciation of design, her aesthetic sense, proved extremely useful.”

Tom Tomaszewski Psychotherapist

“Sitelines Studio built the most perfect site for my needs: beautifully designed, fast, clean, and with excellent functionality for managing content. Cannot recommend highly enough.”

Bob Richmond Photographer

“I have known Andréa for over twenty years, and have worked closely with her on several occasions. She had an exceptional ability to study and write scholarly catalogue entries on works on paper and developed the eye of a true connoisseur in what was, and indeed remains, the esoteric and challenging field of Old Master drawings. In later years her knowledge and experience matured further, leading her into the disparate worlds of Old Master paintings and sculpture and 19th and 20th century British art, and beyond, into the work of numerous artists of the present day. Knowledgeable and erudite about the art and art history of many eras, Andrea’s passionate interest in art is undeniable, and the numerous scholarly catalogues that she has authored are a testament to her admirable skills as a researcher, writer and editor, which have always stood her in good stead with myself and many of my colleagues.”

Stephen Ongpin Gallerist

“Andréa is an art historian who actually values and understands contemporary art. She immediately grasped my work, technically and philosophically, plus her skills as an art dealer and commercial curator helped me better promote my work. In my experience this sort of relationship is quite rare.”

David Seaton Artist and musician

“Andréa’s lightness of touch belies her art historical expertise and depth. Her perceptive insights helped to provide viewers with a context and deeper understanding of the work.”

Charlotte Sorapure Artist

“When it comes to creating a website, Andréa has a wealth of ideas, knowledge and creativity. Any problems that arose were executed brilliantly which meant that working with her was a pleasure and I would not hesitate to recommend her as anything less than outstanding.”
